TEJEDORAS DE VIDAS Y SUENOS

The Association Tejedoras de Vidas y Sueños (Weavers of Lives and Dreams) is an organization composed of textile artisans of more than three thousand women from the Costa Chica Oaxaqueña in Mexico. Mrs. Alegoria Lorenzo Quiroz, originally from San Juan Colorado, and her daughter Verónica Lorenzo Quiroz are involved in the activities of that organization. Few families in the coastal region, who belong to the group of Weavers of Lives and Dreams, maintain the tradition inherited from their ancestors of growing cotton coyuche, which has five natural shades of cotton; brown, green, red, white and beige cotton. Tejedoras de Vidas y Sueños, seek to cover other regions of the state to continue promoting the tradition of cotton coyuche, an almost extinct legacy in Mexico.
