Nabba Handbag

Mola made by Gunadule women in Colombia.
This Fe collection is a balance between the color and exoticism of an ancient culture and the simple lines and contemporary style of modern society. The patterns and designs that are incorporated into the molas are geometric lines inspired by nature. Some colors are vibrant reds, greens, yellows, and purples that they extract from plants; others are more neutral such as the blue, black and beige that we see in the sea and animals, and which work as a balance to the more vibrant colors.

The Molas are an artisanal technique developed by the indigenous woman of the Gunadule Tribe; that means “Person who lives on the surface of the earth”. The process of creating a Mola begins with choosing the different layers of fabrics that will be used, next the fabrics are layered on top of each other, with the bottom layer forming the base. The design is carefully traced on the top layers of fabric, cut out and sewn in place by hand.

Fe Handbags works with traditional art patterns provided by indigenous tribes such as Kunas, Embera, and Wayuu. The brand gives special emphasis on woman’s rights and fair trade practices with the tribes, which are typically neglected and disadvantaged.
