Growing up in the iconic 90’s New York, Uzma Bozai’s initial style inspirations drew on the preppy-tailored cuts and the print-driven graphics of downtown NYC. With a rich family cultural heritage that extends to India, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, Uzma spent childhood summers in the Indian subcontinent. It was in Pakistan that she became in touch with the artisan culture of the skilled crafts of hand embroidering, dying and embellishing. After moving to London and working with international aid organizations, she realized that she could use her inherent love for style to revitalize crafts that were dying out in favor of faster fashion. Teaming up with a group of talented industry textile and print designers her namesake brand was born. The Uzma Bozai story unfolded with studies of intricate, high-skilled, traditional Indian embroidery, creating exquisitely embellished pieces with contemporary vision. Uzma’s latest collections focus on combining travel inspired embellishments, laid back silhouettes and graphic imagery; embellished sweatshirts and jackets have a playful sense of style and contemporary appeal.
A fusion of inspirations from the East to the West, traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design, Uzma Bozai’s cult collections are for the sartorially creative woman – one who is assertive in her aspirations, nomadic in her lifestyle, and tasteful in her ever-exceptional styling.
